The adiabatic compression that may occur when a valve is closed or opened in an uncontrolled manner or just the presence of compressed oxygen alone can lead to a combustion reaction. This is relevant in particular to non-metallic material such as seals or lubricants. Modified Hy-Lok valves for use with compressed oxygen are available to reduce this type of risk for people and equipment. These valves have been approved by a Notified Body.
A selection of modified versions of NV Series valves with control spindle tips allow highly compressed oxygen to be shut-off and regulated in a controlled manner.
The following versions in stainless steel 316 are available for a maximum working pressure of 200 bar and a maximum medium temperature of 60 °C.
Pressure/temperature (oxygen): | Up to 200 bar (2900 psi) at 60 °C (140 °F) |
Material: | Stainless steel 316 |
Seal material: | Modified PTFE |
Temperature fluctuations can necessitate adjustment of the gland packing.
