Ball valves for oxygen applications

Oxygen in technical processes has the potential to be extremely dangerous.

The adiabatic compression that may occur when a valve is closed or opened in an uncontrolled manner or just the presence of compressed oxygen alone can lead to a combustion reaction.

This is relevant in particular to non-metallic material such as seals or lubricants. Modified Hy-Lok valves for use with compressed oxygen are available to reduce this type of risk for people and equipment. These valves have been approved by a Notified Body.

Ball valves 110 OS Series

Application

The special oxygen version of the 110 Series with ball seats manufactured out of modified PTFE (110 OS Series) allows compressed oxygen to be shut-off safely.

TECHNICAL DATA

Pressure/temperature (oxygen):	Up to 69 bar (1,000 psi) at 60 °C (140 °F)
Materials:	Stainless steel 316
Seat material:	Modified PTFE

2-way version shut-off valve
Various connections (Hy-Lok compression fitting, NPT female thread)
Various bores and flow coefficients (0.84 ≤ cv ≤ 25.0)

TESTS

In accordance with EN ISO 10297
Nitrogen at 69 bar (1000 psi) with a max. leak rate of 0.1 SCCM
Hydrostatic test of the housing at 1.5 times the permissible working pressure
