For the production of reliable pipe connections, Hy-Lok recommends that the same materials are always used (e.g. stainless steel and stainless steel or brass and copper) due to the thermal expansion of the pipes and fittings and the corrosion resistance.
The pipe must always have a lower hardness than the fitting in order to achieve perfect sealing. For this reason, pipes annealed after drawing should be used. A Rockwell hardness of Rb90 or lower is recommended. With conical female threads, use of the right lubricants and sealants is crucial for a leak-free connection.
NOTE
Hy-Lok D supplies Imperial or metric stainless steel pipes in a wide range of diameters and wall thicknesses. For shipping reasons, they are delivered only with a 2 metre length.
Hy-Lok D supplies completely soft annealed and seamless pipes in accordance with ASTM A269 (corresponding to DIN 1021-5 / EN ISO 1127) of stainless steel in various metric and Imperial sizes. The pipes are free from scores and suitable for bending and flaring.
